Finskbrød (which translates to Finnish Bread) is a classic of the Danish småkager (small cake) tradition, yet despite the name, they are a Danish creation (although apparently the Swedes say they invented them!). Their origin dates back to the late 19th century when Finnish-style baking, often using almonds and sugar pearls, became fashionable in Denmark. Today, they are most famous as one of the essential varieties found in the classic Danish Blue Cookie Tins and are a mainstay of the traditional Christmas biscuit platter.
