Kræmmerhuse are traditional Danish Christmas paper cones, hung on the tree and filled with sweets, nuts or a tiny gift. The name roughly means “shopkeeper’s houses”, after the paper cones grocers once used to wrap sweets. Here are two free designs to print, colour in, cut out and fill, perfect for an afternoon of Christmas crafting.

How to make your kræmmerhuse
- Print the pages on A4, ideally on thin card.
- Colour in the cone and handle with pens, pencils or crayons.
- Cut out the cone and the handle strip along the outlines.
- Roll the cone into shape and glue the side tab.
- Glue the handle strip inside the rim.
- Fill with sweets, nuts or a small gift and hang on your tree.
Two Christmas cones to colour in
The first cone has a cheeky elf peeping over a chimney, surrounded by holly and stars. The second is a pattern cone with hearts, snowflakes and scallops, and an elf holding a woven heart, for anyone who likes lots of detail.
