Description
Nisse (from Denmark) and Tomte (from Sweden) are very similar mischievous little characters, traditionally responsible for guarding the home or farmstead. If you treat them well they will look after you, but if you forget to leave them a bowl of porridge, then at the very best you can expect to have your shoes hidden!
Make sure you leave them a bowl of rice pudding on Christmas Eve, with a big lump of butter, and if you have been good, who knows what presents you might get!
