Well, dear fellows, it has actually dawned brightly and with mellow fruitfulness today, so we thought now would be a good time to highlight what is on here at HS this week!
The HS orchard is filled with wonderful windfalls after all that rain yesterday, so after school today we are going to make that most Danish of puddings, aeblekage. If you have never tried it before, it’s a fab way of getting one of your five day in a slightly more luxurious fashion, with clouds of dreamy whipped cream and a lovely cinnamon crunch. Find the recipe here.
If foraging is up your alley, now is the time to head out into the woods and find sweet chestnuts. Easily recognisable owing to their spiky cases and glossy brown nuts, they are beloved of squirrels, so make sure you beat them to it! Take a pair of thick gardening gloves as the outer casings can be a prickly nightmare to remove. Store the huskless chestnuts in the fridge for up to two weeks, or pop them in the freezer where they will last until Christmas; perfect for my mum’s Great Annual Mystery Christmas Eve Stuffing 😀
I know it is only October but already our dear customers are stocking up on festive decorations and gifts; we are already selling through quickly on many of the collections, particularly the Hygge Handmade and Gisela Graham ranges. If, (and I promise this is not a cunning marketing trick), there are some of our items that you absolutely love, please don’t hesitate to ring us on 0800 012 4116 for an update on stock levels.
Lastly, as it is set to be a pretty wet and windy weekend we thought we would cheer you up with a little treat. Enter the code HJERTE08 at checkout for 10% off your order until midnight, Sunday 6th October AND if you tell us your best (clean) joke in the comments box, we will pop you in a little Gisela Graham Christmas decoration, absolutely free of charge!
Have a great week!
